Morwell has been chosen has the home for GovHub, employing up to 300 public service workers.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing is calling for expressions of interest from local contractors and businesses to build the new government hub in Morwell, projected to support hundreds of jobs in the region.
Earth Resources Regulation’s head office and staff will be relocated from Melbourne to a ‘GovHub’ in Morwell, with staff from Parks Victoria and the Environment Protection Authority to be stationed there as well.
The ‘GovHub’ was announced in may as part of the state budget.
Building the GovHub complex is expected to create 100 jobs during construction and be complete by mid-2020.
The Andrews government will have up to 150 staff at the hub and they’re calling on the Commonwealth to do the same.
Up to half of the state jobs will be advertised within a year so local job-seekers can apply.
The new GovHub is part of the Labor Government’s $266 million Latrobe Valley transition package to support economic growth, create jobs and drive the businesses and industries of the future.
