Our hopes for the future of Morwell Exhibition

This free exhibition evolved from research into recovery from the Hazelwood mine fire. We listened and clearly heard that people wanted to do something positive about Morwell and to be part of conversations about the future.
Many community members and groups have contributed to the conversation and this photographic exhibition is the result of these discussions. Photographer Clive Hutchison beautifully captures their hopes for the future.
All are welcome.

René Magritte: 130 photos featured in world-first exhibition.

“In the mid-1970s, a swathe of photographs and films of and by René Magritte were discovered, 10 years after the artist’s death. The work is featured in an exclusive exhibition at LaTrobe gallery in Victoria, Australia – a coup for the regional space – which is offering a new perspective on the artist before the show tours globally.”

A great article in The Guardian today about the exhibition on now at Latrobe Regional Art Gallery in Morwell. This is bringing a lot of positive attention to the area at a time when it needs a boost. Check it out here

The exhibition opened this week and Latrobe City Council Mayor Kellie O’Callaghan said she “hoped that the Latrobe Regional Gallery’s improved capability to host international exhibitions, in addition to its proximity to the train line, would draw new visitors to the Latrobe Valley and provide an economic boost.”

Everyone involved in this project really deserves a pat on the back and shows that we have a bright future ahead of us as a centre of world class art exhibitions.
